A convenience store clerk in Houston was shot at point-blank range in the face by a robber, only to get up, fight back, get shot again, and escape.
The entire incident was caught on the store's security camera.
The attack happened at a Texas Chevron station Monday night when a man approached the cashier, shot him, and attempted to retrieve money from the cash register, according to a report.

"The male walked up to the counter, pulled out a handgun, and without saying anything, shot the clerk in the face and his right hand," police said. "The suspect then jumped over the counter and punched the clerk several times."
It was astonishing that the unidentified shooter made no demands before opening fire, authorities said.
"That's the shocking thing, he doesn't even demand anything," said Lt. Emanuel Pavel. "He just goes right up to him and shoots him right in the head. It's crazy. I just can't believe it."

After shooting the cashier, the attacker jumped over the counter and repeatedly struck the wounded man, according to footage of the incident. The cashier managed to rise to his feet, defend himself from some blows, and push the attacker.
The attacker turned to the cash register, and footage showed he tried to break into it, giving the clerk time to flee and get help.
After failing to get the money, the attacker fled the scene, police said.
