A pastor of an Indiana church stepped down from his role Monday night after he admitted to having an affair with a minor.
John B. Lowe II resigned from his ministerial role at New Life Christian Church & World Outreach after a member of the church revealed she had a relationship with Lowe when she was 16 years old that continued into her 20s. Lowe announced his resignation after the church's service on Sunday, according to a statement from the church.

"In the wake of what has now been revealed, we are hurting and broken for a woman who has lovingly attended and served in the church for many years, as well as for her husband and family," the statement said. "It is our deepest prayer and commitment to love, support, encourage and help her through a process of healing in any way in which we are able."
After Lowe confessed his affair from 20 years ago to the church on Sunday, a man and a woman came onstage to speak in front of the church, with the woman saying she was victimized by Lowe when she was 16. Lowe did not mention the age of the person he had had an affair with when he confessed to the church's congregation, according to a video recovered by WANE 15.
“I told you I committed adultery, and I told you it went on far too long,” Lowe said in response to the angry congregation. “I can’t do anything about that except to tell you. If I could go back and redo it all, I would. I can’t, and all I can do is ask for you to forgive me.”
A pending investigation into Lowe's affair is being conducted, the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office confirmed. The age of consent in Indiana is 16, according to Indy Justice.
