Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, a Republican who is also running against Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., in November, unveiled a new ad on Wednesday called “Circus” and condemned liberal lawmakers in the upper chamber.

“People in our Senate today, they’ve created a circus. Liberals like Claire McCaskill and Chuck Schumer, they don’t want the truth. They only want power. And too many Republicans won’t stand up,” Hawley states in the ad.

“I’m Josh Hawley, and I will fight for the Supreme Court. It’s the last line of defense for our values. It’s worth the battle,” he said.

The ad comes as McCaskill is facing a tough re-election fight against Hawley. Furthermore, President Trump won Missouri by 19 points in the 2016 presidential election.

Hawley makes no direct mention of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in the ad, but said last month he would back Kavanaugh.

Hawley told reporters earlier this week that while he didn’t doubt the sincerity of Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct and appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee along with Kavanaugh last week, he said the evidence to support her case “just isn’t there.”

McCaskill announced in September that she would not vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the highest court.

Kavanaugh has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct. He denies all allegations.
