Thanks to a man's quick thinking and being in the right place at the right time, a 5-year-old boy in Louisiana was saved from being an alligator's snack on Saturday.

Daniel Duplantier was watching alligators near a canal in Westwego, Louisiana, when he heard the boy call for help and pulled him from the waters, Westwego Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 wrote on its Facebook page.

First responders helped the boy get across the canal to safety, and he received treatment from emergency medical services, according to the post. The extent of any injuries was not immediately clear.
