A New York City imam and a friend were shot and killed while walking Saturday in Queens.

Maulama Akonjee and his friend, Thara Uddin, were dressed in Muslim garb when the killer came up from behind and shot each in the back of the head execution-style.

The shootings occurred about two blocks from the Al-Furqan Jame Masjid mosque in Queens.

Dozens of angry Muslim men gathered at the murder scene, believing the attack was a hate crime. At least one was quoted as blaming Donald Trump for inciting Islamophobia.
