Virginia officials announced the start of its new consumer education program: Virginia Energy Sense.
They hope it will help Virginians become smarter energy users, in line with the General Assembly’s goal to reduce state electricity demand by 10 percent below 2006 levels in 2022. The new website features step-by-step how-to videos, money-saving tips and a tool that allows users to compare their energy consumption with friends and neighbors.
The program is operated by the Virginia State Corporate Commission. A poll conducted by the agency in the spring showed that consumers want to learn more about how to lower energy consumption.
