Nathan Lane was spotted checking into the W hotel Sunday night. He was in town to take part in Monday night's "A Broadway Celebration," an event celebrating the arts hosted by President Obama and the first lady. Joining Lane will be actors Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Brian d'Arcy James, composer Marvin Hamlisch and a slew of other Broadway notables. The show will be part of the PBS music series "In Performance at the White House" on Oct. 20.

Also Sunday night, Yeas & Nays caught Chef Spike Mendelsohn and fiancee Alyssa Shelasky dancing with the cast of "Passing Strange" during the curtain call. Mendelsohn was pulled out of his front row seat by a cast member, and Shelasky soon followed suit. The musical plays at the Studio Theatre in Washington's Logan Circle neighborhood until Aug. 8.
