MSNBC political analyst Jonathan Capehart explained on Morning Joe this morning that the Romney campaign was wrong to accuse the Obama campaign of being “a campaign of hate.”

Capehart explained that he “rolled his eyes” after the Romney campaign reacted to Vice President Joe Biden’s “chains” comment, because in his opinion, Republicans were saying “downright racially insensitive things.”

To back up his statement, Capehart cited Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney for continuing to talk about food stamps and welfare, and pointed out that Romney told the NAACP that he would repeal Obamacare.

Trump, Capehart added, endorsed Romney and was “still engaging in the racist birther lie” and reminded the panel that Congressman Allen West was “out there saying that Barack Obama wants to make everyone his slave.”

“Allen West is black,” host Joe Scarborough responded.

“Yeah. I know Allen West is black,” Capehart replied.
