The Clinton campaign is raising red flags over depressed Democratic fundraising, telling supporters that when they should be "crushing" Donald Trump with donations, checks flowing into the campaign are behind projections.

"At a time when we should be crushing the other side in fundraising — and building the strongest voter outreach operation we can — our fundraising has actually been falling just a little bit short of our projections, day-by-day," warned campaign Chairman Robby Mook.

His full note:

I know how invested you are in this campaign, so I wanted to make sure you heard from me about our progress for the month.

At a time when we should be crushing the other side in fundraising — and building the strongest voter outreach operation we can — our fundraising has actually been falling just a little bit short of our projections, day-by-day.

On a different kind of campaign, in another election, I might not need to send this email. But everything we've built up to this point has come with the support of 2 million people like you. You're literally the source of most of the money this campaign raises.

And this year, I can't even tell you how important it is that we not just win this thing, but win by a huge margin. Anything less will leave the door open for Trump to claim that we "rigged" this election.
