A Montgomery County man was sentenced to 37 years in prison for his role in a sex trafficking conspiracy.

Lloyd Mack Royal III, 29, of Gaithersburg, must serve 37 years, followed by 10 years of supervised release. He must also register as a sex offender after his release from prison. Royal was convicted of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, sex trafficking of a minor and other related offenses after a two-week trial in March.

Authorities say Royal and his co-conspirators coerced teenage girls to engage in sex for pay, and on multiple occasions, drugged the girls before forcing them to have sex.

Judge Alexander Williams sentenced Royal in U.S. District Court in Baltimore on Monday.
