Nebraska Democrats, whose gubernatorial nominee dropped out after allegations surfaced that he had been falsifying his campaign finances, have another candidate to challenge popular Republican Gov. Dave Heineman. Meister, a Scottsbluff trial lawyer, said he plans to challenge the popular Republican governor in the November general election. Nebraska Democratic Party Chairman Vic Covalt says the 49-year-old Meister "has the party's full support." The Nebraska attorney general's office is conducting a criminal investigation into the falsified campaign cash claims.
