WASHINGTON (AP) — Howard County Executive Ken Ulman says a train derailment that killed two teenagers in Maryland's Ellicott City has prompted a safety review.

Ulman said Wednesday that CSX has asked a community safety manager to look at the safety aspects of the railroad line and whether the area can be better secured.

The two 19-year-olds killed in the derailment were sitting on one side of a rail bridge with the train passing behind them when the derailment happened. They were found buried in coal the train was carrying and spilled in the derailment.

Ulman says nobody should be on train tracks and that they're an "incredibly dangerous place." He says officials want to continue to get that message out. He says officials "don't want anything like this to happen again."
