Gov. Bob McDonnell, fresh off his trip to NYC, will channel his inner Michelle Obama and join Redskins personnel at an event to promote healthy kids at Fred Lynn Middle School in Woodbridge Thursday.
The governor and First Lady Maureen McDonnell will join ’Skins General Manager Bruce Allen, linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, and Tanya Snyder, wife of team owner and public lightning rod Dan Snyder. The event is being held to donate a Redskins Youth Fitness Zone to the middle school as part of the Play 60 program, which encourages kids to stay active to combat childhood obesity.
The Fitness Zone uses the HOPSports Training System, an interactive physical education program for teachers that includes over 100 fitness lesson plans.
Not on the list of invited guests: sidelined quarterback Donovan McNabb, who ran into some – ahem – cardio trouble this season, or defensive tackle and Michael Vick speed bump Albert Haynesworth.
