In her highly-detailed 73-page sex complaint against former vice president Al Gore, Portland massage therapist Molly Hagerty says that at one point in her October 2006 hotel-room encounter with Gore, she tried to calm him by asking about the 2000 election, in which Gore narrowly lost the presidency.  Hagerty says when she asked the former vice president how long he had been “whacked out” by the election’s results, Gore responded “six and a half years, so far.” Since it was October 2006, Gore meant the entire time since the election.

The exchange took place after Hagerty says Gore pressured her to go into the hotel suite’s bedroom, where his iPod docking station was, so he could play her a song, “Dear Mr. President,” by the singer Pink.  The song was an extended denunciation of then-president George W. Bush.  A sample of its lyrics:

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?

How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?

How do you walk with your head held high?

Can you even look me in the eye

And tell me why?

What kind of father would take his own daughter’s rights away?

And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?

I can only imagine what the first lady has to say

You’ve come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

With the iPod docked and going, Hagerty says, Gore then jumped her: “As soon as he had [the song] playing, he turned to me and immediately flipped me flat on my back and threw his whole body face down over atop of me,” she said.  “I was just shocked at his craziness.”

Hagerty says Gore “just giggled and acted like I was only teasing him.”  After she struggled free, she says she started to sit up, but Gore “tightly grasped my right wrist.”  After that, she says, “we lay on our sides a couple of feet apart, looking at each other as he played the song, him singing along with it as if he were revealing deep feelings like some bizarre karaoke and me stuck there…wondering how to get loose and get away.”

Trying to think what to do, Hagerty says she “forced a smile and I just, I just asked him with a quiet sympathetic tone in my voice at that point, I just said, How, just how long were you whacked out after the election? To which he replied, Six and a half years so far, just giggling his head off and then he went on singing to me.”

A Gore spokeswoman says the former vice president “unequivocally and emphatically” denies the allegation.  Spokeswoman Kalee Kreider also says Gore welcomes the newly-reopened investigation by the Portland Police Bureau.
