The Republican Florida Senate nominee reported the best fundraising quarter of any candidate who has run for that office, raising $4.5 million in the second quarter. The campaign has increased its fundraising every quarter since Rubio entered the race in May 2009. Rubio has now raised $11 million from more than 75,000 individual contributors. Democratic opponent Rep. Kendrick Meek raised more than $1 million, while Democratic billionaire Jeff Greene is funding his own campaign. Gov. Charlie Crist, running as an independent, has not yet released his quarterly numbers.
