A 66-year-old former Arizona man was sentenced to a year probation after police found him near the National Mall with weapons in his vehicle.

Police arrest James M. Patock after they said they found three rifles and a pistol inside his vehicle, which was parked in a handicapped spot near the National Air and Space Museum. He told police he had been living in his trailer in the D.C. area for several weeks and had a right to keep his guns in his home.

Last month he pleaded to attempted carrying a pistol without a license and possession of an unregistered firearm. Judge Thomas J. Motley sentenced Patock to a year behind bars, but suspended the jail time and placed him on one year of unsupervised probation.
