Authorities are probing the death of man who was struck and killed by Metro train at the Farragut North station late Saturday morning. Investigators haven't determined whether the man committed suicide or was killed in an accident, Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to D.C. fire and emergency services. Gates said police were still getting information on the accident and were waiting for a report from the D.C. medical examiner. Gates said she did not have identification information for the man.
The death caused the Farragut North station to shut down for roughly two hours starting at around noon on Saturday. Red Line trains passed through the station but did not stop. Shuttle buses were available between Dupont Circle and Metro Center.
