WASHINGTON (AP) — A man was struck and killed by a red line train at the Rockville Metro station after apparently intentionally placing himself in the path of a train.
Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says multiple witnesses and camera footage confirm that the man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, intentionally put himself in front of a train at 11:17 a.m. Saturday.
Trains bypassed stopping at the station while an investigation took place. Normal service resumed at 2:11 p.m.
Authorities were working to notify the man's next of kin.
