ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged with manslaughter while driving under the influence in a deadly car crash on Interstate 395 in Alexandria.
Virginia State Police say 25-year-old Javed Hussaini of Manassas was driving an Audi A8 when it ran off the road, spun around and hit a tree early Thursday. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to split in half, sending part of it over a guardrail.
Two passengers in the back seat were ejected from the vehicle, including 25-year-old A. Tawab Ebadi of Chantilly, who died at the scene.
Police say the crash occurred on the ramp from southbound I-395 to westbound Little River Turnpike. Authorities say alcohol and speed were thought to be factors in the crash.
