A 42-year-old man is accused of beating a stranger to death in front of shoppers at a grocery store in Elkton, Md., and is being held without bond.

Troy Kelly, of North East, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old James Peirce, of Elkton, the Associated Press reported.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, Kelly allegedly walked up behind Peirce in the Acme Market in Elkton and kicked and punched him, knocking him down. Kelly then climbed on top of him and struck him several more times, according to media reports.
