WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — In another marathon match at Wimbledon, two Olympic tennis records were set when Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares of Brazil defeated fifth-seeded Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic, 1-6, 6-4, 24-22 in a second-round doubles match at the London Games.
The match contained the most games — 63 — in a best-of-three-set men's doubles enounter at the Olympics. The previous record was 59.
The third set was the longest in men's doubles at the Olympics. The match lasted four hours and 21 minutes and was played over two days.
On Tuesday, the longest set in Olympic history was played when Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France defeated Milos Raonic of Canada 6-3, 3-6, 25-23 in the singles.
