Two local politicians say they’re ready to race for a Virginia Senate seat if – and it’s a big if – Sen. Patsy Ticer chooses not to run for reelection.

Del. Adam Ebbin, who represents parts of Arlington and Fairfax counties as well as Alexandria, told the Alexandria Times that he would run for the Ticer’s seat, but only if she doesn’t run again. Ebbin’s announcement comes just one day after Alexandria Councilman Rob Krupricka announced his intention to run, though his campaign is also contingent on Ticer’s decision to vacate her seat.

Meanwhile, the 76-year-old Ticer has kept quiet about her decision while speculation of her retirement runs rampant on the web. Peggy Papp, the senator's legislative assistant, declined to comment on Ticer's status.
