HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey judge will likely decide by the end of the week whether to throw out a lawsuit filed by the state's two NFL teams against the developers of a megamall near their stadium.

The New York Jets and New York Giants sued the Triple Five Group, the developers of the proposed "American Dream Meadowlands" in June, claiming the project in their backyard would create epic traffic problems and interfere with game days.

They also say the facility violates a prior agreement they had to approve any expansion plans at the East Rutherford site, which is near MetLife stadium where the teams play.

The mall was supposed to open in 2007 but has been plagued by financial problems. The American Dream Meadowlands Project is a planned 7.5 million square foot retail and entertainment complex, complete with an indoor ski and snowboard park and amusement park.

Lawyers for the football teams claim the developers did not adhere to a 2006 contract requiring the teams to give written consent to any changes that would "have an adverse effect" on stadium development or operations.

Lawyers for Triple Five moved to dismiss the teams' lawsuit last month. During Monday's hearing, they argued that the issues raised were "not ripe" for litigation because the project's administrative process is ongoing.

State Superior Court Judge Peter Doyne told the attorneys that he would likely issue a written ruling on the case by the end of this week.
