Who will make it to the altar first? Jennifer Aniston and her new fiance Justin Theroux, or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?

Jen announced her engagement to Justin Sunday night, just four months after Brad and Angie told the world they would finally marry.

Oddly enough, the engagement came the very weekend that many news outlets speculated that Brad and Angie would secretly marry in France (they didn't as far as we know).

But now many are wondering what the story is with Jen and her hubby-to-be.

Us Weekly put together a timeline of the couple from meeting to planning their "I do's."

2007: Jen met her future love on the set of "Tropic Thunder"; Justin co-wrote the film with Jen's longtime pal Ben Stiller. "I remember thinking he was very dark. At first you think he could be like a serial killer, but he is actually the nicest person in the world," Jen said.

2010: The actress and Justin reconnected while shooting "Wanderlust," though Jen admitted she "didn't recognize him at the camera test." At the time, he was in a long-term relationship with stylist Heidi Bivens.

May 19, 2011: Jen's rep denied she and Justin were an item after they were photographed dining together at West Hollywood's Sunset Towers Tower Bar.

June 6, 2011: The couple took their romance public at an MTV Movie Awards afterparty in L.A. chatting with mutual pal Jason Sudeikis and director Brett Ratner.

June 16, 2011: Justin moved into Jen's pad. "He's living at her place in L.A.!" an insider revealed. "And she's introducing him as her boyfriend."

July 21, 2011: Justin began introducing Jen to his family.

Aug. 6, 2011: Following Jen's "Horrible Bosses" press tour, she and Justin joined Ben and his wife, Christine Taylor, in Hawaii. During one shopping trip, an eyewitness said "they seemed giddy in love and genuinely happy together."

Dec. 5, 2011: The "Friends" actress' father, "Days of Our Lives" actor John Aniston, gave Justin his seal of approval. "He's a charming young man," John told Us. "I think they make a wonderful couple."

Dec. 23, 2011: The couple mailed out their first joint holiday card.

February 2012: The pair rescued a boxer-pitbull mix named Sophie, Justin told New York magazine. "She's the most adorable little cookie you've ever seen."

Feb. 22, 2012: In an emotional ceremony, Jen received her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame as friends, family and fans looked on. To celebrate the moment, she gave Justin a kiss on the lips -- her first major public display of affection since they began dating.

March: During a radio interview, Jen rated her happiness level at "10-plus."

April 23: The National Enquirer and TMZ erroneously reported that Jen and Justin had been scouting locations in Crete for a July wedding. The actress' rep told Us the stories were a "total fabrication" and they had no immediate plans to marry.

June: The couple touched down in Paris for a romantic couples getaway.

Aug. 8: Star magazine erroneously claimed the couple had split due to Justin's unwillingness to commit. "It's once again just another fabrication to sell magazines and has no relationship to reality," Jen's rep said.

Aug. 10: Justin popped the question on his 41st birthday. This will be the first marriage for the "Your Highness" star and the second for Jen, who married Brad in July 2000; they separated in January 2005 and finalized their divorce in October of that year.
