FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Offices of the Genesee County Historical Society in downtown Flint have been damaged during a break-in where $40-$50 in loose change and petty cash were stolen.
The Flint Journal reports (http://bit.ly/QKvV3B ) the break-in took place at the historic Durant-Dort Building on Wednesday night. The building also houses law offices.
David White, president of the Durant-Dort Carriage Co. Foundation, said thieves destroyed etched glass inside of the building, which was originally installed it was constructed in the late 1800s.
White called the glass "irreplaceable."
The building was the home of the Durant-Dort Carriage Co. It was the workplace of William "Billy" Durant, who founded General Motors in 1908.
