You'd like to file this under common sense, but judging from the two wrecks this reporter saw during his half-mile walk to the Metro station this morning, some will never learn — you can't drive as fast when it snows.
AAA Mid-Atlantic is reminding drivers to:
• Increase following distance to at least 10 seconds
• Use extra caution on bridges and overpasses
• Accelerate slowly
• Ease off the gas pedal if your vehicle starts to slip
• Brake slowly and gently
• Never use cruise control
• Don't change lanes unless necessary.
Snow is expected to fall on the Washington region during rush hour this afternoon and last overnight. Forecasters say some areas could see up to 10 inches of snow.
