Veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas has begun writing a weekly column for the Falls Church News-Press, the newspaper announced this morning.

Thomas’ first column appeared in the paper Thursday morning.

Thomas, 90, who covered every president since Eisenhower, retired in 2010 shortly after she came under fire for making disparaging remarks about Israel during an interview at the White House.

“She is progressive, and following my more than eight hours of direct, one-on-one talks with her since the events of last June, I remain firmly convinced that she is neither bigoted, nor racist, nor anti-Semitic,” said Nicholas Benton, owner and editor of the News-Press.

A resident of Northwest Washington, D.C., Thomas will write political columns exclusively for the News-Press.
