ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) — Mexican authorities say gunmen burst into a house in a working class area of the resort city of Acapulco and killed five members of a family, including a 3-year-old boy.
Guerrero state prosecutors say a tip early Wednesday led police to find the five bodies inside a house in the Cinco de Mayo neighborhood. Prosecutors say in a statement that investigators recovered bullet casings from two handguns.
Authorities didn't say whether the attack was tied to organized crime, but bloodshed in Acapulco including mutilations and decapitations surged following the 2010 breakup of a drug gang based in the city.
In Mexico state, meanwhile, prosecutors say six men were shot to death while sitting in a bar in the Mexico City suburb of Nezahualcoyotl (nay-sah-whal-co-yotl).
