The promoter of a local go-go group was fatally shot early Wednesday morning in Prince George's County, police said.
About 2 a.m., police went to the 6100 block of Surrey Square Lane in Forestville and found the victim inside an apartment. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson said.
A preliminary investigation found that the suspect forced his way into the residence. There was a struggle between the suspect and the victim, during which there was an exchange of gunfire. The suspect then fled, Johnson said.
No description of the suspect was available. Johnson said that the victim was described as the promoter of TCB, or Total Control Band.
The group's manager said that TCB used to play at CFE Event Center in Forestville every Saturday. Prince George's County Police shut down the night club in September.
The Washington Times reported that CFE's owner, Kevin Darby, was found dead on Monday afternoon inside his club. Johnson said that police are investigating a death reported Monday afternoon in the block where the club was located, but would not confirm that Darby was the deceased.
Johnson said there was no information about whether the two deaths were related.
