LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) — George County supervisors have agreed to cooperate with their regional hospital on a major expansion project.
Paul Gardner, CEO and administrator of the George Regional Health System, appeared before the Board of Supervisors on Monday to seek support for the multimillion-dollar project.
The Mississippi Press reports (http://bit.ly/OI4Z3J ) supervisors authorized the hospital to borrow up to $4.5 million for constructing, improving, equipping, furnishing and expanding the hospital.
Board President Kelly Wright said Monday's action will not require a tax increase.
Plans for the hospital are two-fold: to add new acute care space and to get a 60-bed George Regional Health & Rehab Nursing Home completed and up and running by the fall of 2013.
