A Falls Church man who worked for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo is facing child pornography charges.

The wife of Tawfeeq Hameed Abdullah Mohammed found the alleged pornography when she searched Mohammed’s laptop, according to the affidavit for his arrest, filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.

Mohammed worked at the embassy from December 2007 until last month. Mohammed told authorities that he looked at the pictures six or seven months ago and forgot to delete them, according to the the affidavit. He is also accused of asking a coworker to delete files on his computer after he knew he was being investigated.

Mohammed, who is a citizen of both the United States and Yemen, is in federal custody pending a Thursday detention hearing.
