GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A 41-year-old South Florida businessman has been sentenced to prison, fined and ordered to pay $197,000 to 29 victims of visa fraud.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/PAFW0g ) Michael V. Lombardi received a prison term of four years and three months, was fined $10,000 and given three years of probation after he serves his full term in a federal prison.

Lombardi, who was owner of U.S. Opportunities in West Palm Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty in May to fraudulently obtaining temporary work visas for workers from the Philippines from January 2009 through April 2010.

Some of the workers were sent to jobs in Mississippi.

Lombardi was sentenced Monday in Gulfport, Miss.
