Attorneys for Orange County, Va., and residents who oppose a proposed Wal-Mart store near the Wilderness Battlefield are scheduled to appear in Orange Circuit Court on Tuesday.
In April, Judge Daniel R. Bouton ruled residents who live near the battlefield and a historic group can contest at trial the county’s approval of the store in Locust Grove.
The store would be located near where Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant first met on the field of battle.
