Fairfax County parents dealing with the stresses of having their adult children deployed overseas will soon have the chance to share their worries and their hopes as part of a county-sponsored support group.
The group was founded by the county's Department of Neighborhood and Community Services in partnership with the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program and the Easter Seals of Greater Washington and Baltimore. It will be led by three county employees — one of whom has a son in Afghanistan, another whose son recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and another whose son served during the Gulf War and in Somalia.
The first meeting will take place on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Brion's Grille in Fairfax. Dessert and coffee will be served. For more information, call Tilly Blanding at 703-324-5252.
