The Fairfax Board of Supervisors is set to meet with the county’s school board Tuesday afternoon in what is sure to be a charged environment.

The two boards have clashed repeatedly over funding issues during the past six months and seem destined to do so again tomorrow.

The School Board plans to ask for $1.2 million to implement its new “priority schools” program, which will supply certain schools with additional staffing and training tools.

“My first instinct is to say ‘look somewhere else in your budget to pay for this,’” said Supervisor Jeff McKay, D-Lee. “They shouldn’t have to come for us and ask for money for that.”

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at 8115 Gatehouse Road in Falls Church.
