Landscaping equipment worth about a half-million dollars has been stolen in a series of thefts throughout the Franconia police district since February, Fairfax County Police said Wednesday.
About 75 thefts have been reported from businesses and work vehicles. Items stolen include chain saws, trimmers, generators, floor buffers, air compressors and floor sanders, police said in a news release. More than 30 items, valued between $20,000 and $30,000, were taken in one incident, police said.
Police think at least one group is responsible for the thefts and is using a pickup or box truck to transport the stolen items.
