BERLIN, Md. (AP) — The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation says the former treasurer of a teacher's association has been charged with stealing more than $400,000 from the group.

Police say 58-year-old Denise Inez Owens of Berlin stole the money from the Worcester County Teacher Association when she was treasurer from 2006 to 2009.

The Daily Times of Salisbury (http://bit.ly/S1ryhC) reports that last week, Owens was charged with theft scheme more than $500 and theft of $500 plus.
