NEW YORK (AP) — The euro fell against the dollar Wednesday, breaking a three-day winning streak, as fears about Europe crept back.
Traders are waiting to see what the European Central Bank will do to help the region's economy. ECB President Mario Draghi hinted last week that the central bank may buy government bonds, but no concrete plans were given.
Meanwhile, France's central bank said Wednesday it expects the country to fall into recession in the third quarter.
The euro fell to $1.2356 late Wednesday from $1.2410 late Tuesday. The euro rallied against the dollar for three days after the U.S. posted stronger-than-expected jobs data on Friday.
The dollar was mixed against other currencies Wednesday.
The British pound rose to $1.5650 from $1.5640. The dollar fell to 78.52 Japanese yen from 78.65 Japanese yen and to 99.52 Canadian cents from 99.67 Canadian cents.
The dollar rose to 0.9723 Swiss franc from 0.9682 Swiss franc.
