You might be wondering what happened to the much anticipated snow.

Mayor Vince Gray probably is. He called a press conference for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday outside the city's salt dome. The snow was supposed to be falling by then, well on its way to the up to four inches forecasters had predicted. Now they're thinking the city won't get more than and inch or two.

But only minimal  flakes had graced the area's skies by Tuesday evening.

Why?

The District Department of Transportation has a "force field" around the city, @DDOT said in a tweet.

As for Gray's press conference, it went forward "because we already had everything in place," said spokeswoman Linda Wharton-Boyd.
