District transportation officials are introducing a series of new parking space pilot programs beginning Monday, according to a WTOP report. The programs include new multi-space meters, pay-by-space meters and pay-by-phone meters. The multi-space meters will replace single-space meters between the 900 and 1200 blocks of Independence Avenue Southwest. Single-space meters that accept credit cards or coins will be installed in parts of Friendship Heights. District officials will install the pay-by-phone system in parts of Foggy Bottom, Georgetown and around Nationals Park. Drivers will need to sign up with the pay-by-phone space operator, ParkMobile, in order to use the system. ParkMobile will not charge fees during the program's pilot phase. -- Markham Heid
