GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Harrison County supervisors have decided to allow a dirt pit expansion in DeLisle.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/NZQ3KA ) the board voted unanimously on Monday to uphold a decision by the Planning Commission to let J. Levens Builders enlarge its dirt pit, despite objections from residents.
However, supervisors still must decide on one of the conditions that owner Jimmy Levens was appealing -- the time the trucks are allowed to run near an elementary school.
The planning commission said that truck traffic would be restricted during the morning and afternoon near the school.
Supervisors will find out when traffic is the heaviest around the school before deciding on the times.
