HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) — The DeSoto Regional Utility Authority has given final approval to a two-year contract with Severn Trent to manage the county's wastewater treatment operations.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/QEIuZT ) the panel voted 4-0 Wednesday to approve a deal with the British firm, starting Oct. 1.

The contract is for $836,693 for the first year, with the base cost increased 3 percent the second year, plus options for renewal annually for the following three years.
