The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reacted to Sen. Ted Cruz's presidential primary victory Tuesday in Wisconsin with pleas to sign its petition denouncing the Tea Party Texan's campaign for president.

"From shutting down the government in 2013, to his constant disrespect for President Obama, one thing is clear: Ted Cruz has no business being president," the DCCC wrote in an email to members.

The group said Cruz "must be stopped," but that would take 50,000 Democrats willing to sign its petition denouncing Cruz and "his reprehensible tactics."

Less than an hour after the DCCC email blast, the committee was 20 percent of the way to its goal, according to the petition's landing agiaritelli@washingtonexaminer.com&zip=" target="_blank">page.
