TERROR: Zachary Adam Chesser, the Fairfax man accused of trying to aid the Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab, will remain in jail pending trial. A federal judge said Chesser’s disregard for his son’s life and his online postings made him a threat to the U.S. and overseas communities.

DOCUMENTS: The D.C. Court of Appeals has ruled that the city withheld documents after a 5-year-old girl was shocked after she plugged in a lamp in her D.C. Housing Authority home. The court sent a lawsuit filed by the girl’s family back to Superior Court, where a judge will determine whether she gets a new trial.

SPIDER: A Maryland man will serve 90 days in jail for stealing a pet tarantula from a public library, the Carroll County Times reports.
