DETROIT (AP) — U.S. Rep. John Conyers says he's gratified to win the Democratic nomination for a 25th term in office.

Conyers easily defeated four Democrats in Tuesday's primary election. He's running in a newly drawn district that includes part of Detroit and more suburban territory than he's accustomed to representing.

He tells The Associated Press his opponents ran spirited campaigns but couldn't overcome his extensive name recognition.
