NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — The U.S. government's only active square rigger will be on view and open for public tours in Newport.
The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle arrived on Friday morning.
The 295-foot-long tall ship will be at the city's State Pier 9 through the weekend.
It was built in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany, for the German Navy and taken by the United States as a war reparation after World War II.
It is now used as a floating classroom for future officers of the U.S. Coast Guard.
