Clint Eastwood surprised many over the weekend by attending a fundraiser for Mitt Romney in Sun Vally, Idaho, and endorsing the candidate.

According to the pool report, Eastwood explained that part of the reason he supported Romney was because he would reform the tax system.

“He’s going to restore a decent tax system that we need badly so that there is a fairness and people are not pitted against one another of whose paying taxes and who isn’t,” Eastwood said. “Also we don’t want anybody taking away the Olympic medals, tax wise, from the Olympic athletes. The government is talking about getting a couple of nickles.”

Americans for Tax Reform reported last week that Olympic athletes would have to pay up to $9,000 dollars in taxes for a Gold medal.
