BALTIMORE (AP) — Police say officers have shot and wounded a man in south Baltimore after he fired a gun in their direction.
Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said officers responded to a call of a firearm discharge at about 10 p.m. Friday.
He said officers found an adult male who appeared to be firing shots outside the home of a woman he knew. The spokesman said the man engaged the officers and fired at least one round in their direction. Officers returned fire, with at least one striking him in the lower region.
He was transported to an area hospital and was in serious but stable condition late Friday.
The homicide unit has responded, and the officers have been places on administrative leave, which is routine when there is an officer-related shooting.
