What horrible twist of scheduling sent President Obama to Wisconsin the day after his State of the Union? The president had predicted his beloved Bears would beat the Packers last weekend -- leading his hometown Chicago Tribune to ask, "Is Barack Obama a sports jinx?"
Ouch. So he had some explaining to do on arrival in Manitowoc:
Now, let me start by clearing something up. I am not here because I lost a bet. I just wanted to be clear about that. I have already gotten three Green Bay jerseys. I mean, I’ve only been on the ground for an hour. I’ve got three jerseys. One of them is from Woodson, and he just said, “See you in the White House.”
So let me just get it out of the way: Sunday was a tough day for Bears fans. I see one guy with a Bears hat here. He’s got a lot of guts.
But even if it didn’t go the way that I wanted, I am glad to see that one of the greatest rivalries in sports is still there. And we will get you next year. I’m just letting you know.
Mr. President! Stop making predictions.
