This morning, the Center for American Progress Action Fund sent out what is arguably its quintessential news release: “CAP Action: Romney-Ryan Policies Will Have Negative Effect on Communities of Color.” It brings to mind the classic mock newspaper headline: “World To End Tomorrow: Women, Minorities Hardest Hit.”
Half an hour after the original release went out, Center for American Progress Action Fund sent out a second release: “UPDATED RELEASE: CAP Action: Romney-Ryan Policies Will Have Negative Effect on Communities of Color.” What changed in that half hour? Well, apparently somebody read the original release and noted this passage:
Gov. Romney and Rep. Ryan on immigration: “Self-deportation” Mitt Romney has not only made it clear that he would do nothing to fix our dysfunctional immigration system, but he has also called for a policy of “self-deportation” for undocumented immigrants and promised to veto the DREAM Act. Rep. Ryan for his part voted for the Sensenbrenner bill XX WHAT’S THE SENSENBRENNER BILL? XX and voted against the DREAM Act.
The updated release answers the anonymous editor’s question and says: “… the Sensenbrenner bill, which made it a crime to be in the country as an undocumented immigrant. Ryan also voted against the DREAM Act.”
Obviously, somebody at the center sent out the first news release without reading it all the way through. Apparently, they find their news releases as tedious as the rest of us.
